If you are in Lanark—where Historic Environment Scotland records that the 1834–36 County Buildings were designed by local architect Hugh Marr—and have localised kitchen-worktop damage, clear photographs can help establish whether a cosmetic surface assessment may be suitable. MHrepairs is based in Kilsyth and assesses appropriate hard-surface repairs across Central Scotland.

Photo-led kitchen-worktop assessment
A localised chip, scratch, burn mark or small surface scuff can stand out in a kitchen, especially on a plain or reflective finish. A photo-led assessment considers the size and position of the damage, the material and finish, nearby edges, joins and the surrounding area. See our worktop repair service for related cosmetic surface work.
Please take one close-up in good natural light, one wider photo showing the run of worktop, and an angled image if it helps show the depth or texture. A short note about the material, suspected cause and whether moisture has reached the area is useful too.
When cosmetic worktop repair may not be suitable
This assessment is for suitable visible surface damage. It does not diagnose or correct swollen boards, failed joins, loose substrate, moisture damage, structural problems, fitting issues, plumbing or electrical conditions near the worktop. If the surface is lifting, moving, badly swollen or affected by a leak, the underlying cause should be assessed first by an appropriate trade.
Colour and sheen are considered carefully, but an invisible result cannot be guaranteed. The aim is a tidy, sympathetic improvement to the appearance of suitable localised damage.
What to send for a Lanark assessment
- A close-up of the damaged area
- A wider photo showing the worktop and nearby joins or edges
- Your Lanark postcode
- A short description of the material, location and known cause
Travel is assessed from photos and location rather than assumed in advance.
